Love the UW? Be a District Dawg

UW Impact is recruiting state-wide to bolster the ranks of District Dawgs in preparation for the new legislative session in January. Our vision: recruit at least one alumnus or friend of the UW to represent the needs of higher education in each of the state’s 49 legislative districts. We want to be the leaders in advancing higher education, in both local communities and in Olympia.

Higher education funding and legislative interest have reached a critical moment in state history. After years of historic cuts we received a reprieve last year with an initial reinvestment and a much-needed tuition freeze. We need fellow Huskies to keep the momentum moving forward.

District Dawgs are pivotal to our work. With the support of UW Impact, District Dawgs are grassroots leaders in their communities, active in cultivating relationships with their legislators and stewards of information to fellow alumni, friends and district neighbors.

We provide the support, expertise and resources in exchange for a two-year commitment. We are looking for Huskies of all backgrounds, from both sides of the aisle, and with various degrees of past political experience. You don’t have to be an expert in politics, we just ask that you be a proud alum who wants to help keep the “public” in public higher education. We want to ensure that future generations have access to a high-quality, affordable higher education experience at the UW and public institutions in the state. We hope you are ready to stand with us.

If you are ready to become a District Dawg in your legislative district, please read over the job description here, and contact Jessica Hoch at hoch@uwimpact.org to get more information and to sign up.
