Public Higher Education Legislative Advocacy Professionals (PHELAP) Conference
PHELAP is a volunteer organization of higher education advocacy professionals that are dedicated to determining the best practices for advocacy in the higher education setting, developing important professional networks and sharing valuable resources.
The PHELAP mission is dedicated to advancing the understanding and value of alumni advocacy in support of public higher education. PHELAP was created to serve as a tool for networking, resource sharing and determining best practices in alumni advocacy, leading to the advancement of the profession.
The 2015 PHELAP Advocacy Conference will be hosted by the University of Tennessee in Nashville. The annual conference provides an opportunity for University, government relations and alumni association staff to explore innovative and successful approaches to grassroots legislative advocacy. With shrinking state and federal funding, public higher education instiuttions have enhanced traditional lobbying approaches by rallying alumni, students and donors as vocal grassroots advocates. Through a combination of presentations and group discussions, advocacy professionals will leave this conference armed with new ideas, tactics and strategies for advancing their University’s legislative agendas.\
